Gudetama's Lazy Lounge at the Artbox Cafe

I have mentioned before, my daughter's love of all things kawaii and anime. We watch anime every night at home, she draws characters every afternoon when she gets home. On her birthday in February we ventured down for lunch at the Artbox Cafe in Brighton, which is currently Gudetama's Lazy Lounge.

Last year we went to Hyper Japan and Comic Con - she dresses kawaii style every weekend....

Anyway, back to the point, here are some pictures taken in the cafe.

Upstairs, all of the food is based on the Sanrio character Gudetama and it is lazy egg themed. Downstairs is a Sanrio boutique, full of goodies. We visited last year when the cafe was Pusheen themed and the theme will change again in June.

To get a table you will need to turn up and if none are available the lovely staff will book you a time slot that day, so you could go for a little wonder around Brighton first.

The decor is fabulous, lovely and bright, a real treat inside and out. The food ranges from around £6.50-£9.00. The kids had bubble tea to begin with, my rhubarb and vanilla tea was served in a cute teapot and my brother had a matcha latte.

For lunch myself and Paul had a toastie (which was delicious) and the kids had hotdogs, these were actually vegan plant-based hotdogs which tasted really good. Each dish had cute finishing touches. Even the salt and pepper pots look like real eggs.

We couldn't not have a pudding, Finley had a waffle complete with popping bubbles!

Shannon chose an ice cream sundae, you can pick three flavours from a long list. Paul also had a fried egg sundae and I had a meringue nest, which had lemon curd in the centre and a little macaron with a butt drawn on.

The cafe is on East Street, close to the sea front, you can also get takeaway drinks and ice creams.

We can't wait out find out the next theme. This is a must visit for Sanrio fans - we will certainly head back in the summer!
