Upcycled keepsakes with Forever Yours Keepsakes

You know how much I have a love of upcycling - I will reuse most things and I do have bags of children's clothes that I don't want to part with. So today we are doing a meet the maker with Kate from Forever Yours Keepsakes - I'll hand you over to Kate who will tell you a bit more about her business.

Hi Everyone,

First off I’d like to thank Sarah for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself.

My name’s Kate and I run Forever Yours Keepsakes. I specialise in transforming everyday items with your loved one’s clothing. We should be cherishing memories all day every day.

A great way to use and upcycle loved one’s clothing, making a keepsake item truly unique to you.

So, what can I say about me?

I’m 31, full time mum to Littleman who is 22 months old – where did that time go?!?

Before Littleman’s arrival I worked full time in purchasing. Financially it didn’t make sense for me to go back to work. The nursery fees would have been the same or more than my income. I also didn’t want to miss out on anything as Littleman grew and developed into the cheeky little maniac he is becoming, hehe.

Starting Forever Yours Keepsakes gave me something for myself instead of just being ‘mum’ all the time. It also gave me a release/distraction which I feel has had a positive influence on my mental health. I found this really therapeutic. Focusing on something else and being involved in and seeing it unravel into a new creation.

As my son’s 1st birthday approached, I wanted a keepsake for me to remember the first year by. I’m sure you’ve all seen the traditional blankets and bears. These are great, but I wanted something a bit different. I felt if I got these they’d just end up put away in a cupboard somewhere. Nothing caught my eye, so I started making my own. I was always creative at school so thought why not give it a go.

And that was 6 months ago - so we’re still relatively new on the scene, but so far so good.

Our items include clocks, bags, wall art, cushions just to name a few. Our hedgehog has to be our most popular item. I also take requests for custom orders.

We also have an Instagram page where we show updates on orders and general chat. I also occasionally run competitions.

You can follow Forever Yours Keepsakes on Instagram and purchase items from Etsy and also from Made by Mums.

Thank you Kate for sharing your lovely keepsakes, if anybody else has a small business and would like to be featured please get in contact.
