All the reasons to make the switch to LED lighting in 2019

LED Lighting is something that we should all have in our homes, for many different reasons, and if you haven’t made the switch already then these are all the reasons you should.

They last longer

LED bulbs can last even longer than 50,000 hours, so whilst you might pay a little more for them initially, you won’t need to replace them as often as you would a fluorescent or incandescent bulb.

They’re more energy efficient

LED bulbs use ten times less energy when compared to incandescent bulbs of the same lumen brightness. This is because LED bulbs only less than use 10% of their energy as heat, whilst incandescent bulbs lost 80% of their energy as heat.

When you have LED lights in the home you’ll notice that your energy bills will start to fall because you’re using less power to light your bulbs.

LED bulbs are really safe

The fact that have less energy converted into heat also means that they’re really safe to have in the home. This is because they stay mostly cool whilst they’re on, so you’re less likely to burn your fingers if you accidentally touch them, and there’s less of a chance of them causing a fire too. Of course, when changing a bulb, it's always a good idea to wear protective gloves, such as those from the unigloves website, to ensure your fingertips are protected when dealing with electricity.

They’re better for dimming

When you use a dimmer switch on an LED bulb they’ll retain their true colour, whereas if you use an incandescent bulb and dim that it’s likely to change to a more yellow light when you lower the output.

LEDs are better for the environment.

Energy-saving Compact Fluorescent Lights can contain Mercury vapour which is harmful to the environment, but LED light bulbs don’t so they’re a much better option. Plus if you choose Eco-Friendly LED Bulbs they’re made from recycled materials, which is a great way to make a small difference to the planet.
