Five years ago Dom and his wife Linds bought an Airstream and called her Ettie. They love the Airstream community and the people who they meet within it are so interesting and different. I have a bit of an obsession with them too - the only thing stopping me having one is lack of money and nowhere to store it.
If you don't know what an Airstream is then read on: "Airstream is an American brand of Travel trailers (caravans) which are easily recognised by the distinctive shape of their rounded and polished aluminum coachwork. This body shape dates back to the 1930s and is based on designs created by Hawley Bowlus, who had earlier overseen construction of Charles Lindbergh's aircraft, the Spirit of St. Louis.Airstream trailers and recreational vehicles are manufactured in Jackson Center, Ohio, USA."
Four years ago Dom and Linds decided to open a glamping site - it's been a long slog but they are planning on opening the site in Atherstone, Warwickshire in the Midlands this summer.
It really is a family affair at Ettie's Field - Dom and Linds have children and grand children living with them as well as Linds' Mum who lives next door, not mentioning the animals.....
They have three Scottie dogs, 6 Norwegian Forest cats, a Chinchilla Persian, 3 alpacas and 2 peacocks - phew....
Ettie's Field will have a real boho vibe, chilled out, very colourful just like the people they want to attract! The site is for all who tour in or like something a bit different, there are onsite Airstreams to rent out (including Ettie) and the rest of the site is dedicated to touring glampers who already have their own glamping set up.
There will be a clubhouse, so friends can chill out together and a shop and reception which will stock local handmade items.
The Modulogs (bathrooms) are a company in Wales, Linds said: "We always wanted individual bathrooms as we are not fans of the toilet/shower blocks, we want to offer the customers their own space. We looked for so long for something that wasn't a shed!! These are built in "modules" so we have 3 single bathrooms and 1 family, a male & female loo with composting toilets, a dishwashing one and a chemical waste Modulog. They are sustainable and once I've decorated and put some stuff in I'm hoping customers will love them too."
